What we collect and why

• Account: email address (and Google profile info if you sign in with Google) used to authenticate and save reading progress.
• Orders: name, shipping address, and order metadata for books and audiobooks. Payment card details are handled by Shopify — we never see or store them.
• Newsletter: email address if you subscribe to “Letters from Amos.”
• Messages: the contents of any letter you send us via the contact form or email.
• Analytics (optional): page views and feature usage. No third-party ad/tracking SDKs. Off by default until you opt in.
• Operational logs: sign-in attempts, cart and checkout events, and error logs needed to keep the site running and secure.

We use the information above to deliver the service you asked for (account, orders, email replies), to send messages you specifically subscribed to, and to keep the site working safely. Where required, our legal basis is performance of a contract (orders, accounts), consent (newsletter, optional analytics), and legitimate interest in operating a small, safe website.

Account and order data is kept while your account exists and as long as needed for tax and accounting records (typically 7 years for purchases). Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe. Operational logs are kept for a short rolling window.

• Lovable — hosting and managed backend (Supabase, edge runtime).
• Shopify — storefront, checkout, and payment processing.
• Google — optional sign-in provider.

The stories are for children, but accounts and purchases are intended for adults. We deliberately collect no personal information from children and do not use third-party ad or tracking SDKs on child-facing pages. If a child’s information has been entered, write to us and we’ll remove it.
